But, too soon, we had to go back to our normal days and I had to go back to attempting to break down Ensharra's walls. It was my first day back and I brought him his breakfast.

“Good morning, Ensharra,” I greeted like usual.

“Morning, human,” he sat in his normal seat as he ate.

“Did you enjoy your peace while I was away?”

“Yes. However, now you're back to annoy me.”

“Our talks have to be more entertaining than doing nothing or sleeping. I mean, you keep talking to me.”

He rolled his eyes, “Don't consider yourself special, human, because you're marginally better than this cell.”

“Oh, I'm plenty special. It's how you have my pact mark.”

He glared at me.

“Dude, will you please just work with me on this? If you do, I can try to see what I can do to get you out of the cell for a while.”

He gave me a measured look as he kept debating.

“As long as you stop trying to kill me I’ll help you. I kinda have this habit of trying to help people.”

“Even those that try to kill you?”

“I've literally been attacked by almost every brother, and even killed by Belphie. I still helped them all become a family again.”

“Fine,” he sighed, “I do not like this, human. Remember that. But you have my word that I will not attempt to kill you again.”

I smiled, “Would you rather we spend the mornings or afternoons practicing?”

“The mornings so I can get you out of my hair earlier.”

“Alrighty, if you're done eating, then why don't we get started?”

He nodded and I reached for his power, trying to release just a small amount. I was looking to just make the pact mark and his usually red areas glow. But he has so much power that it's like trying to pour just a drop of water from a large bucket.

What would happen is I'd start carefully releasing his power but it'd heavily tip in balance and a large amount will suddenly flow through, causing me to sorta panic and shut the dam again. So Ensharra would randomly have bursts of power that were suddenly taken away with a second.

“Enough,” Ensharra commanded, sighing, “The fluctuations are giving me a headache.”

“Oh, I'm sorry,” I also sighed, “I'm honestly also feeling quite tired. Controlling your powers is very difficult to do.”

“It's hard to believe that you're that immortal mage's apprentice.”

“Well, I haven't actually done any training with him since I thawed. He's been too busy with affairs in the Human World.”

“No wonder.”

“First, you were proud of how difficult your powers are to control. And now you're shaming me for having a hard time. Can you decide on something?”

He just hummed in response and left for the bathroom, ending our conversation. I sighed and took his dishes, as well as get his lunch put together. After giving him his lunch we sat in silence as I focused on manipulating my magic powers for more personal practice.

I was hoping that it would make it easier to control Ensharra's powers. It was also just good for me to get into the habit of practicing again.
